A Story About the Meaning of Marriage and Love

What is love? Many experts and writers have been trying to answer this essential question. No one has been able to do it so far. Love is something unique – there’s no other thing like it. Below you will read a smart story about marriage and love a teacher passed to its students.

One day at school, a student asked a teacher: “What is love?”. The teacher thought about it for a second, then told the student that to answer the question, he must go to the wheat field and pick the biggest wheat, then come back to class.

A bit confused, the student obliged. He went to the field and found a pretty big wheat. However, there were so many rows. “Will there be a bigger one?”, he wondered. He walked a bit more and found a bigger wheat, and a bigger one, and an even bigger one…halfway through the field, he realized that there were no bigger wheats than the one he saw earlier. He regretted his decision not to pick it and went back.

He entered the classroom emptyhanded. The teacher said with a smile on her face: “This is love”. In life, we all keep looking for a better partner, until we realize that you’ve already had them before.

“Then, what’s marriage?”, the student asked. The teacher smiled and told him to go to the corn field and bring back the biggest corn.

The student listened, this time careful not to make the same mistake as with the wheat. He picked a medium-sized corn halfway through the field and brought it back to the teacher.

“The corn that you’ve brought may not be the biggest or the best-looking, but it is perfectly fine. That is marriage.” the teacher said.
