Alkalize Your Body with These Simple Tips and Prevent a Number of Diseases

When we fall ill we usually ask ourselves what did we do wrong? What caused the onset of a certain disease or illness and how can we prevent it from happening in the future? Well, the truth is that a great number of us have high acidity levels in our bodies and this leads to a number of health problems. The acidity levels in our body are the result of unhealthy diets loaded with refined sugars, processed foods and trans-fats or in other words, your typical western diet. But unless we do something to lower the acidity in our body we risk developing an array of health problems and diseases.

What we need to do is create an alkaline environment and we can achieve this with just a few adjustments to our diet and lifestyle. When we kill the acidity in our body and become alkaline we’ll restore our energy and vitality and hence be more resistant to illnesses.

Here are some simple tips on how to alkalize your body and stay healthy:

  • Greet every day with a smile and a nice big cup of lemon water. Squeeze one lemon in a cup of water and drink it first thing in the morning. Lemons may have an acidic taste but they have an alkalizing effect on our body.
  • Every once in a while prepare yourself a simple salad. Chop some lettuce, drizzle lemon juice and olive oil and feast on it. Green veggies are loaded with alkaline minerals such as calcium and can help you restore your pH balance.
  • Eliminate the unhealthy chips and snacks and replace them with a healthier option, like raw almonds or cashews. Nuts are a natural source of calcium and magnesium and other essential minerals which can help you alkalize your body.
  • Replace your cow milk with almond milk. Make smoothies with almond milk, some berries and spirulina, this combination is a true elixir of health.
  • Stay physically active. Go for regular walks or jogs, do some yoga or Pilates, go swimming or exercise in a gym. Whatever keeps you active and makes you feel good.
  • Don’t eat meat every day. Try skipping a few days and try some vegetarian meals instead. Meat increases the acidity in your body while veggies alkalize it. Swap one with the other and the results will be inevitable.
  • Hydrate your body, drink lots of water or fruit infused drinks. Don’t drink carbonated or soft drinks, they have the opposite effect.
  • Lower your sugar intake or eliminate it from your diet completely. Sugar is your worst enemy; it has a very acidic effect on your body. This goes for sodas as well, even the zero sugar, zero calories ones. They’re loaded with hidden sugars and will wreak havoc on your body.
  • Make sure your diet is rich in vegetables, but go easy on the potatoes. Green veggies are the best for alkalizing your body.
  • And lastly, sprouts are also an excellent option. They’re rich in nutrients, increase your energy levels and make your body alkaline.
