Cannibalism or Not – Scientists Make Meat from Human Cells

Cannibalism is the feeding of animals of the same species. But this phenomenon also occurs in humans and is called a disease, and is known as necrophagy – eating a corpse. If we look through history there is some information that cannibalism has existed in the past. The discoverers of America were the first Europeans to encounter cases of cannibalism. For example, they testify to the Maya who ate the body of someone who sacrificed to the gods by jumping from a high pyramid. The English sailor, cartographer and explorer James Cook testified that people in many parts of the world ate human flesh not out of hunger but out of belief. In present-day Chile, as far back as 1553, the Spanish army led by Pedro de Valdivia was defeated by the Araucanian Indian tribes. The Araucanian leader ate a piece of the Spanish commander’s heart, believing that the enemy’s courage would come to him. The most obvious example of cannibalism in history is the siege of Leningrad, in which people had no other food for 100 days. They could only survive if they ate the bodies of the dead. Cannibalism is now considered a mental illness and is punishable by death in some parts of the world. This disease occurs due to a mental abnormality or some traumatic situation.

Cannibalism as a pathology in the modern world is almost non-existent. Almost. This phenomenon exists in both the animal and human worlds, although perhaps in smaller quantities. This phenomenon occurs either due to hunger or due to danger or disease. Sometimes for scientific purposes.

Since the 1990s, the scientific community has introduced genetically modified organisms, and since then Americans have been eating laboratory-made foods such as corn, canola, and soy. That is why these foods are banned throughout Europe. Food experiments have progressed over the years. So scientists created flesh from human cells. It is a steak created using human cells and human blood, in order to disrupt the traditional meat industry. This meat is called “Ouroboros Steak”. The scientists claim that this is not cannibalism and explain that the way it is created is from cells that are taken from inside the cheek and fed with expired donated blood serum. They explain that expired human blood is practically a waste material in the medical system, and they use it because it is cheaper and more sustainable than FBS.
