What is “white” or alcoholic vinegar?

Alcoholic vinegar is composed of water, mostly 5-10% acetic acid. What is it made of? Historically, distilled white vinegar was made from fermented sugary foods such as beets, potatoes or molasses. But there are many other methods of obtaining it. For example today, most of the alcoholic vinegar present is made from fermented grains. White wine vinegar is made from white wine, while rice vinegar is made from fermented rice. Other ingredients such as yeast extracts or phosphates can be added to the preparation process.

How can vinegar help you in your laundry?

Vinegar is great for retaining the color of clothes

The acid contained in white vinegar is strong enough to dissolve the residues or alkalis left by soaps and detergents, and at the same time is so light that it will not damage fabrics. You can add 1/2 cup of vinegar to the washing machine, in the final rinse, by preserving the color of the fabrics and getting clearer colors. If your machine has an automatic dosing, then add the vinegar to the area where the softener is placed. This applies to colored clothing.
Clothes that are white and 100% cotton, you can clean thoroughly using white vinegar. Vinegar can also be a lightener for gray and dirty clothes. To clean dirty white socks you need to add 1 cup of white distilled vinegar to the area where the fabric softener is placed. You can also do this by hand, by putting the socks in a pot on the fire in which you will add them together with the white vinegar and let them boil nicely. However, it is easier to put the laundry in the washing machine.

White vinegar naturally softens clothes

If you do not like the use of commercial softeners, white vinegar can be a great substitute. It softens the clothes in a natural way and leaves no residue on the clothes. All you have to do is add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the area where the softener is placed. If you want the laundry to have some scent (because although the vinegar when we open it has a scent, it still does not leave any scent on the laundry you wash with it), you can add some essential oil to the vinegar bottle. White alcoholic vinegar is safe and hypoallergenic for all clothes, even baby clothes.

Naturally removes mold odor

It is known that if we collect wet clothes, fold them and leave them in the closet, we can cause mold and an unpleasant odor on them. It is important to dry the laundry thoroughly before sorting it in the closet. If you still inadvertently leave insufficiently dried clothes in the closet and it gets an unpleasant smelling fly, vinegar will help you remove that unpleasant odor. Put the clothes in the washing machine again and add two cups of white vinegar to the drum. This method works for a small amount of mold and unpleasant odor.

Removes the smell of deodorants and perfumes from clothes

We all use perfumes and deodorants, which contain stronger and weaker scents. Sometimes, despite washing, the smell of perfume or deodorant is still on the clothes. How to remove that odor? Before putting the clothes in the washing machine, spray them with vinegar in the area where the perfume or deodorant smells. Then put them in the washing machine. This is also a great way to prevent yellow spots caused by deodorants and perfumes.

Retains the color of dark clothes – dark

Surely at least one of you has had detergent stains after washing black jeans. They are really disgusting and seem impossible to remove. To prevent white lines and white stains from the detergent on your jeans and other black clothes, add 1/2 cup of alcoholic vinegar to the area where the fabric softener is added. This will remove all the stains caused by the detergent and will keep the color of the black fabrics exactly as they should be – black.

Vinegar helps remove scale from the iron

Modern irons usually run on steam, and the use of steam can lead to clogging of the vents from which it comes out. To clean the spray nozzles, put white vinegar half and half distilled water in the part where water is added. Leave the iron in an upright position, releasing steam for about five minutes. Then rinse the tank with plain water. Shake the water through the iron, and you will notice that the spray nozzles and steam vents are loose. Pass the iron on the old cloth by pressing on the spray nozzles in order to get out all the pieces of scale that may be inside.

Vinegar can help clean your washing machine

The washing machine, after years of use, can show an unpleasant odor. If this odor is not removed, it can start to be transferred to the laundry. It would be good to clean the intestines several times a year by running a stream of water and 2 cups of white distilled vinegar. Also a great way to clean the inside of the machine is with the following procedure. Put baking soda in the area where the powder is placed, the amount should be the same as when you add washing powder. Put 1/2 cup of white distilled vinegar in the area where the softener is placed. Turn on the washing machine at the strongest temperature your machine has, it would be 90 or 95 degrees. This will clean your machine of all unpleasant odors.
