The legendary boxer says that he became a fighter because he had to survive. He had to fight to live every day and that’s what made him so successful.  With 12 world titles by his name, Pacquiao is living the dream. However, he’s shared all that wealth with the poor, never forgetting where he came from.

Pacquiao was born in 1978 as one of six children. His single mom did her best to support the family. However, things were pretty hard. At 14, Manny had to quit school to support his family. Just two years later, he found boxing and fell in love with it. The rest, as they say, is history.

His fight against nemesis Floyd Mayweather Jr. earned him $1.5 million even though he didn’t win. He’s used that cash to help the poor who lived as he did once. Manny says that he knows how they feel and how tough life can be. He’s determined to make things better for the poor, and this is far from the only charitable thing he’s ever done.

In the past, Manny Pacquiao has been known to help Filipinos in need. He gave over 1,000 pesos to people several times and enjoys a great deal of respect from his fellow Filipinos. He’s a legend in his country and for good reasons.

After seeing all the poverty in the Philippines, Pacquiao decided to use his wealth in another line of work. In 2007, he became a congressman and later a senator. He represents the needs of his countrymen and is focused on the poor. Remember the $1.5 million he earned in the 2015 Mayweather bout? He used it to build 1,000 homes for the poor in his country.

Pacquiao says that there’s a fighter in each one of us. He’s hoping that his story will serve as an inspiration for others to never give up and fight their way out of poverty. Life has blessed Manny Pacquiao, and he’s sharing those blessings with those who need help.
