French Engineer Invented Iglo Shelters for the Homeless People

The problem of homelessness is known all over the world and is something that many people face, and for only a few of them the problem is solved in temporary shelters in the coldest period. In the warmer months, the homeless may find shelter in the parks under the thick shade of the trees, but what happens to them when winter comes? What happens to the homeless when the minus temperatures come, when the snow covers the ground? Despite the compassion of humane people who bring them warm clothes and blankets, it will not protect them from the cold, at least not completely. So while we are in our comfortable and warm homes, many homeless people do not have their own shelter during the winter.

Knowing this problem, the French engineer Geoffroy de Reynal came up with a great idea. The French engineer, who is an expert in energy engineering, created a lightweight, collapsible and portable needle construction for homeless people, which he called “Igloo”. His idea for such a construction came from the large number of homeless people he found on the streets of Paris. He focused on solving this problem, so he created this home that can be placed anywhere and which is comfortable for one person.

What are these “Iglu” for the homeless made of?

“Iglu” is made of polyethylene foam, which is covered with aluminum foil. This double layer prevents the freezing temperature from affecting the interior, as it keeps the indoor temperature 15 ° warmer than the outside temperature. Also, another good thing about these igloos is that they absorb body temperature and sunlight, thus raising the temperature even more, while still providing privacy. These igloo can be easily compacted, if damaged it can be easily repaired, they are waterproof and recyclable.

These solutions were invented by a French engineer Geoffroy de Reynal are great as an instant solution, but still do not solve the problem forever. However, it is good to know that many of the homeless will be taken care of warmly during the winter. According to many data, there are many deaths of homeless people who died from frostbite. If nothing else, at least the mortality rate will be reduced.

This invention is a temporary option, as Reynal points out. After creating the first prototype, he began collecting donations online from which he raised $ 20,000. In the future, Reynal wants to create thousands of such shelters that will be distributed around the world to all homeless people in need. He has an idea to upgrade them and install showers in them, to create bigger shelters for more members, but for that later.

With these shelters Reynal solved a major social problem, albeit only temporarily until a better solution was found. However, this solution will save many lives from freezing in the cold winter, so Geoffroy de Reynal proved that humanity and humanity still exist. With this creation, he proved that good and acceptable ideas are never ignored by the public, as evidenced by the donations of funds raised for the production of these “Igloo”.
